Happenings at the Ranch
Meet River - Our Official Greeter
Usually the first one you will meet when arriving to our tasting room is
our very sweet Golden Retriever named River. River knows lots of tricks,
loves people and belly rubs. I swear more people know River than us!
Wildlife Sightings At Convergence Vineyards
Within view of the tasting room patio you can see our nesting
pair of Red Tailed Hawks and their two babies. Feeding
seems to go on all day, as the parents take shifts in hunting for prey.
Come see them soon as we know they will grow up quickly
Our New Agricultural Building
Steve is putting the finishing touches on our new building behind the tasting room.
When finished it will give us more room in the winery by storing equipment and supplies
as well as being a new home for the Green Dragon -"Our faithful forklift".
Vineyard Update
Our vineyards are growing up beautifully. Our sustainable approach to
grape growing seems to be making the vines quite happy. We know when
our vines are happy by tasting the wines we make from them. Even though
we just released them the Barbera and Syrah have already won GOLD medals
and the Zinfandel took the Silver. This is just the first competition they have been in.
I think it's going to be a good year.
Solar Powered
We just completed our first year on our new solar system, and actually
produced more electricity than we used. It is a 6 kilowatt system that is
tied into PG&E. During the day we usually produce more electricity
than we use so the meter spins in reverse. At night the meter moves
forward and we use some of the credits from the sunny hours. This is
one of many of our sustainable practices we employ at Convergence Vineyards.
Over the last year we have stopped thousands of tons of CO2 from being
release into the atmosphere from this project alone. |
